A Chance Occurrence
A Chance Occurrence
Ode to Halflife by O’Rourke
The blue square of light
In the window across the street
Never goes dark—
Sometimes it flickers
As if a moth flutters about it
Still it shines—
People pass by it
Making grim silhouettes
Yet it glows—
The light went out today
But a shrill sound and flashes of red
Filled its place—
–and went quickly
