Christmas Shopping 101

leave a comment »

So, I know that there are a lot of people out there who loathe Christmas shopping on the whole. Honestly, I like doing it; however, I’m not a huge fan of waiting in lines and fighting with people over things…I’m just not good at such stuff…partially because I’m a little bit of an impatient person but also because who really wants to wait in line and do all those “fun” things. So, with that being said, I have a few tips and tricks that I try to go by that others hopefully won’t…I offer these to you now.

1) Never underestimate the power of internet shopping. I am a huge proponent of this simply because it does not require going out and fighting with the crowds. Also, you can get better deals online than you can get in the store a lot of times. If you don’t like to wrap presents (I do but this is for those people who don’t), most online stores will wrap your presents for free or a small fee, which is nice for most people. Good stores for such things include barnesandnoble.com, amazon.com, walmart.com, and many, many more.

2. Be aware of sales at all the stores. Some of them will price match for you which is nice. Also, why pay 20-50% more for a similar product that you is just as good as some more random brands. This way you can also have ideas of presents for people in mind in order to expedite your shopping experience, which is always better.

3. Try to have a chipper attitude when going holiday shopping. I know that it sounds rather…what’s the word I’m looking for….positive….maybe, I’m not quite sure that’s what I”m going for…however, if everyone has a good attitude, the fights breaking out in Wal-Mart will not occur (hopefully).

4. Have fun when you’re shopping. Don’t get so caught up in the gift hunting process that you fail to have fun. When you’re out, treat yourself to a meal out at your favorite restaurant or do something else for yourself…because then, we will all be less tense.

5. Finally ( and this is going to sound clichéd), don’t forget that the whole point of the season is to spend time with your family. Don’t let the presents and things get in the way of that.

So, there you have it…just a few tips from me…so, yeah….
