“Stars Hide Your Fires”
Each star burns
Hot and Bright
From somewhere out
In space.
They look down on
Millions of worlds.
Their warmth wrapping
Like a quilt around.
Each is a soothing
Song to these
Eternally wandering
Disobedient Children.
Each respects the distance
Not wanting to crowd
But give the space
To allow individuality.
Suddenly one of these endlessly
Singing Sirens’ temper flares
Causing a cosmic cataclysm
Charring all the little ones.
